“Yuyo” Arrested in San Francisco Over El Cercado Neighborhood Case
The National Police arrested Julio Paula Grullón for allegedly ordering the death of Joel Muñoz Almánzar in San Francisco de Macorís.
My dear people from our much-missed community abroad, the National Police in our Duarte province reported the arrest of 52-year-old Julio Paula Grullón, known as “Yuyo”. Authorities point to him as the alleged mastermind behind the death of 27-year-old Joel Muñoz Almánzar, nicknamed “El Jevo”, a tragic event recorded on August 16, 2026, in the El Cercado neighborhood.
According to the official report from the Northeastern Regional Directorate, the arrest was carried out on Friday, October 9, under warrant number 2026-AJ0079354. The law enforcement institution also indicated that Paula Grullón allegedly sent Jhasniel José Estévez Ramos and Jariel Rosario Ramos to commit the homicide, and they have already been formally brought before justice.
Police authorities are investigating past grudges and alleged disputes over the sale of illicit substances as the possible motive for this unfortunate event. Following his capture, “Yuyo” will be handed over to the Public Ministry to answer for the serious allegations against him.
