Man sentenced to 20 years turns himself in in San Francisco de Macorís
Slater Miguel Celestino Burgos turned himself in to the Police in Duarte province to serve his sentence for homicide.

Our people from the proud Duarte province are keeping a close eye on local events. In the last few hours, a man facing a two-decade sentence decided to turn himself in to the authorities in San Francisco de Macorís.
This is 32-year-old Slater Miguel Celestino Burgos, who showed up voluntarily alongside his legal representative at the Homicide Department of the National Police, responding to an arrest warrant.
The case dates back to June 17, 2021, when he was found guilty by the First Collegiate Tribunal of the Criminal Chamber of the Judicial District of Duarte for the death of Emilio José Faña Abreu and the illegal use of firearms.
After exhausting the legal processes, which included an appeal and the rejection of an appeal for cassation by the Supreme Court of Justice in early 2025, the Sentence Execution Court ordered his arrest so he can serve the imposed sentence.
