Monsignor Alfredo de la Cruz calls for dialogue in the face of violence
The Catholic Church in the country advocated for understanding to curb violence, in a message led by local bishops.
My beautiful people of Serie 56, our Catholic Church has raised its voice on our half-island to ask all of society, the government, and families to unite through sincere dialogue to put a stop to the violence that causes us so much pain.
This important call was made during the 44th National Pastoral Encounter, which took place at the Casa María de la Altagracia and was attended by bishops and some 350 pastoral agents who arrived from all the dioceses of our beloved half-island.
It must be proudly highlighted that the welcome words were given by our dear bishop of San Francisco de Macorís and president of the Dominican Episcopal Conference, Monsignor Ramón Alfredo de la Cruz Baldera, who sent a message by letter from Rome.
For his part, Monsignor Carlos Tomás Morel Diplán reminded us that we all share a great responsibility from schools and homes to build a better society, setting aside particular interests and always seeking the common good for our people.
