Mourning in San Francisco over the departure of agronomist engineer Elías Vargas
Agronomist Elías Vargas, brother of journalist Leo Vargas Morillo, passed away at 67 in San Francisco de Macorís.

Our people of San Francisco de Macorís mourn the departure of agronomist engineer Elías Vargas, who passed away at 67 years of age on Thursday, September 8th. His passing brings grief to a well-known family from San Francisco, as he was the brother of the respected journalist Leo Vargas Morillo.
Throughout his life, Elías Vargas provided valuable consulting to rural producers and worked at the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources. In addition, he maintained an active political commitment as vice president of zone J of the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM).
Son of the late Cándido Vargas and Juana Morillo, he is survived by his children Anali, Ana Mercedes, and José Vargas Calderón, along with his numerous siblings. His remains are being viewed at the Municipal Funeral Home and his burial is taking place at the Getsemaní Cemetery in the city of Jaya.
