Mourning in San Francisco: Merchant found shot dead
They investigate the fatal shooting of merchant Francisco Almánzar Toribio in the Los Chiripos sector of San Francisco de Macorís.

Our people in the Big Apple are closely following the painful news arriving from our beloved homeland. The authorities of San Francisco de Macorís are investigating the tragic death of 54-year-old Francisco Almánzar Toribio, who turned up lifeless with a gunshot wound at his home in the Los Chiripos sector.
The merchant had recently reported several robberies at both his home and his workplace. In addition, his relatives reported the theft of cash and a firearm.
Faced with this situation, a young man named José Carlos González Reynoso, nicknamed "José Candao" or "José Candado", turned himself in to the police of his own free will to collaborate with the investigation. Although he acknowledged that he had disputes with the merchant and that the merchant had accused him of the thefts, the young man denied any link to the crime and assured that he went before the authorities out of fear for his personal safety.
The authorities continue working on the case to clarify the facts, while reminding that the finger pointing at the young man does not represent a formal accusation of guilt.
