Mourning in NY and SFM over the passing of Ángel Almanzar “Wilson”
The beloved dental technician, athlete, and community figure from San Francisco de Macorís, Ángel Almanzar, passed away in New York at the age of 71.
Our community of San Francisco de Macorís and our diaspora in New York are in mourning over the physical departure of Don Ángel Almanzar, whom everyone affectionately knew as “Wilson”. At 71 years of age, and after battling some health issues, this great son of the Duarte province has left us, leaving an immense void in the hearts of those who knew him. For many years, Wilson earned the respect and affection of his people thanks to his outstanding work as a dental technician. From his own laboratory located in the Los Ciruelos neighborhood, he offered his professional services to the entire region. But his dedication didn't stay just in the office, as he was also a passionate athlete who shone in softball wearing the colors of Club Olimpia. His vocation for service led him to get fully involved in the social causes of his sector, even serving as vice president of the Los Ciruelos Neighborhood Board. His joy, friendly demeanor, and good nature will always be remembered by his loved ones, including his wife Elizabeth Almanzar and his children José Ángel, Angelisa, and Diana. His funeral services and Christian burial will take place in New York City, where he resided.
